Arthur R. Carduner (1919-2009), father, friend, bookseller, writer, film critic, World War II veteran, and former owner of the Bandbox and New Strand movie theaters, entrusts his children, grandchildren, other family members, fellow booksellers, and close friends to remember him always by enjoying, and urging those dear to us to enjoy, the best things life has to offer (in no particular order, since he believed them all essential): love, friendship, children, good conversation, wit and wordplay with a little irony and cynicism thrown in, film, outstanding athleticism and sportsmanship, history, natural history, literature, the arts, the sciences, the unorthodox and unconventional, odd and exotic foods, including, of course, gefilte fish, and last, but not least, books in abundance. He will be deeply missed, but always remembered. His values, principles, lessons, talents, and brilliance live on in those who were lucky enough to know him, especially, the most fortunate of all—his children.
